Prithviraj looks fierce in this new poster of Kaduva; Shoot set to begin soon!
Last year, on his birthday, Prithviraj had announced that he would be teaming up with veteran director Shaji Kailas for a mass entertainer titled ‘Kaduva’. It is scripted by Jinu Abraham, who has earlier penned ‘Masters’ and ‘London Bridge’ and also directed ‘Adam Joan’. The actor’s own banner Prithviraj Productions is producing the film jointly with Magic Frames. A new poster of the film was released online last day. Along with that, the makers have also informed that shoot will be beginning soon.
Recently, ‘Kaduva’ was in the news when the film’s script writer Jinu Abraham had approached the court alleging that there are similarities between his film and Suresh Gopi’s 250th film, which to be helmed by one of his former associates, Mathew Thomas. Interestingly, Suresh Gopi plays a character named Kaduvakkunel Kuruvachan in it, which sounds similar to ‘Kaduva’. Even the first look posters of both the films were strikingly alike. The Kerala high court ordered a stay on the shoot and promotional activities of the Suresh Gopi starrer.
Script writer Renji Panicker later clarified that nobody else can claim ownership over Kaduvakunnel Kuruvachan as it was he who first named that character. Years back, he was supposed to do a film titled ‘Vyakharam’ with Mohanlal and Shaji Kailas. However, the project could not materialize then due to various reasons.
According to Renji Panicker, Kaduvakunnel Kuruvachan is a real-life character who is still living in Pala. After being inspired by Kuruvachan’a life story, he felt it would be ideal for a movie adaptation. Last year, Shaji Kailas had approached him asking if there was any objection in doing a film based on the same character. Since Renji Panicker is close with Shaji Kailas and he wanted to see the latter’s comeback, he okayed it.
‘Kaduva’ with Prithviraj is being planned to made on a big budget. It will be one of the most expensive films in the actor’s career. Apart from him, another popular star from South Indian cinema will also be part of the cast but the makers are yet to reveal the name. On the technical front, efficient technicians like ace cinematographer Ravi K Chandran, art director Mohandas and editor Shameer Muhammed have already been signed. The film also marks the entry of popular South Indian composer S Thaman to Malayalam film industry.
