Pulimurugan is a huge commercial success : Tomichan Mulakupadam
Mohanlal starrer Pulimurugan, released during the Pooja holidays is still running successfully in theatres with packed audience. Pulimurugan broke every single preexisting box office record in Mollywood. The movie became the fastest Malayalam movie to gross 10, 25 and 50 crores.
While Mohanlal is being hugely appreciated for his efforts and dedication even at this age to pull of such a character, there is another man who should be acknowledged for his willingness and courage.
We are talking about Tomichan Mulakupadam, the producer of Pulimurugan. The willingness and risk he took to produce the movie on such a large scale is highly commendable. Pulimurugan was made on a budget of 25 crores, a massive one considering Malayalam cinema.
Tomichan Mulakupadam in an interaction told that even through he produced the movie on a budget of 25 crores, the risk he was too was only for 10 crores. Prior to the release itself, the movie earned a profit of 15 crores.
He recollected how he was mocked when some of his production ventures could not click at the box office. Even during the production of Pulimurugan, many industry insiders and association people called him insane for investing such huge amount in a movie.

When he gave full-page advertisement in newspapers, many people had advised him not to unnecessarily waste money in marketing. But that was a great initiative and helped the movie reach more and more people prior to release.
He also told that, it was the support from action choreographer Peter Hein that inspired him to invest big in the movie. Peter Hein had told the producer that they should work with international standards so that they can dub and release the movie in Tamil, Telugu, Chinese and Vietnamese languages.
Telugu version of Pulimurugan, Manyam Puli is gearing up for release. Soon the movie will be released in other languages also.
Pulimurugan is roaring in the box office and is all set to become the first Malayalam movie to collect 100 crores from the box office.
Pulimurugan was written by Udhayakrishna and directed by Vysakh. Vysakh’s debut in film industry was with the Mammootty starrer Pokkiriraja, also produced by Tomichan Mulakupadam under his banner Mulakupadam films.
