Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0 release likely to be postponed once again!
If there is one movie that the whole nation is eagerly looking forward to, then it has to be Shankar’s much talked about sci-fi magnum opus, 2.0. With two of Indian cinema’s biggest superstars, Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar in the lead roles, the movie has tremendous expectations among the audience.
2.0 has already been postponed multiple times and if reports are to be believed, it has been pushed yet again. The movie was initially scheduled to release for last Diwali but was later pushed to this year’s Republic Day in January. But that could not materialize and the makers had announced it as a summer release. However, the movie is now being postponed again.
Leading trade analyst Ramesh Bala informed it with a tweet, which reads,
@superstarrajini – @akshaykumar ‘s #2Point0 release will not happen in April.. The release is most likely to be postponed by 2 to 3 months
The news has come as a big disappointment for the scores of movie lovers across the country who were eagerly looking forward to the movie’s release. An official word regarding the postponement in release has not yet been made by the producers.
Made on a massive budget of around Rs 450 crores, 2.0 is said to be the most expensive film ever made in Indian cinema. It is currently in the post-production stage. The pending VFX and animatronic works of 2.0 are being handled by various organisations from more than 10 countries. Legacy Effects, Tau Films, Quantum FX, Double Negative and national award-winning VFX supervisor Srinivas Mohan are all involved in the post-production process.
Many internationally renowned technicians are involved in the movie’s technical side. Oscar winner A R Rahman is composing the music and Resul Pookkutty is in charge of the sound design. Legacy Effects, who have worked in movies like Avengers, Jurassic Park, Iron Man etc are working on the animatronics department.
Inspired by the massive success of movies like Dangal and Baahubali, the makers of 2.0 are planning to release the movie in all major Indian languages in addition to Japanese and Chinese versions. Meanwhile, there are also reports about the makers planning to organize a grand teaser launch event in Hyderabad in the third week of February. All the leading stars from Indian cinema are expected to attend the event.
