Ram Charan acquires the remake rights of superhit Malayalam film Driving Licence
Telugu superstar Ram Charan has reportedly bagged the remake rights of last year’s superhit Malayalam film ‘Driving Licence’. The original directed by Jean Paul Lal aka Lal Jr had Prithviraj and Suraj Venjaramoodu in the lead roles. The makers of the Telugu version are yet to finalize the cast and the director. Ram Charan had also bought the rights of another Malayalam film, ‘Lucifer’. His father megastar Chiranjeevi will be starring in it.
‘Driving Licence’ had hit screens last December 20. The film was scripted by Sachy has an interesting storyline with an universal appeal. It is primarily centred around two individuals – a film star and his ardent fan, who is a motor vehicle inspector. It is the clash of egos and power imbalance that form the film’s crux.
Critic reviews and general audience response were highly positive with special mention for the performance of its two lead actors. Many rated it as a well-made commercial entertainer. It will be interesting to see how Ram Charan and his team adapt the film in a bigger industry like Telugu.
