From the very first picture of Mohanlal that came out from the film named Loham helmed by Ranjith, everyone specially the fans of Mohanlal was expecting that Loham will be action film and Ranjith will be back at his terrific style of creating great action films like Narasimham, Ravana Prabhu or Aaram Thamburan. The stills of the film in which Mohanlal appeared in his twirled moustache made them more hopeful of the prospect of seeing Mohanlal in an action film directed by Ranjith again.
But they have to wait till another time as the director Ranjith himself cleared the air about the rumor of Loham being an action film. Renjith made it clear in a recent Media interview that Loham is not an action film. Ranjith told that when films like Baahubali is releasing here which has action sequences which can stand up to Hollywood films then calling Loham as an action film is itself a shame.
Ranjith told that Loham not follows the path of his earlier films which was action oriented films with a usual Hero-Villain struggle and firebrand dialogues. Even the twirled moustache look of Mohanlal has not so important in the film. The importance is more on the story which deals with some issue our society faces now and the effort is to see those issue through a different angle of view. He want to present Mohanlal in a new avatar rather than following the path of his earlier Mohanlal characters. The film does not has hero and villain which gives space to firebrand dialogues or so. This film travels through incidents after incidents and that is its speciality. It has no situation in which a hero has to say a punchline to the antagonist.
The character of Mohanlal in this has no shade of any feudalism or has any shade of metro culture. It involves some people who becomes a part of some incidents. Those characters even don’t have any connection with each other or sees each other as they are from different cities. But there is something which connects them and that makes the story to move forward.
