Ranjith Sankar pens four scripts during the lockdown period
Malayalam filmmaker Ranjith Sankar is known for consistently doing films unlike his contemporaries who tend to take long breaks. The director is making full use of this lockdown period as he has finished penning four scripts already. It includes a family entertainer, an action-based film, a socio-political thriller and an experimental project based on the lockdown.
Ranjith Sankar is aware that cinema industry is severely hit by Covid-19 pandemic and it will take time for things to get back to normal. He believes that Malayalam films are most likely to loose markets outside Kerala and overseas. So the only way forward is reducing the budget and work accordingly.
Ranjith Sankar’s last release was ‘Kamala’ that had Aju Varghese and Ruhani Sharma in the leads. The film failed to click at the box office but the director hopes to see people talking about the film after years like ‘Ramante Edanthottam’, another film of his that didn’t do well at the theatres.
