Release of Rajinikanth’s 2.0 likely to be postponed
The science fiction thriller 2.0 is one of the most awaited films in Indian cinema in recent years. This ambitious project directed by Shankar is said to be one of the most expensive Indian films ever. The entire shoot for 2.0 was wrapped up a month ago and the audio launch of the movie was held a few days before in Dubai.
The movie was supposed to release on 26th of January 2018 but the latest news is that the release is most likely to be postponed. The reason is extensive VFX works which are still pending. As the movie is a science fiction, and the script demands a lot of CGI, Shankar is trying his level best to improve the quality of the works. The film is shot in 3D itself, so we can assume the technical perfection Shankar is looking for. The makers are now eyeing to release it for April 13, which is auspicious occasion of Tamil new year.
If 2.0’s release is postponed, Akshay Kumar’s Hindi film Padman will be released in this slot. The release of Rajinikanth’s gangster movie Kaala will be also pushed due to 2.0’s postponement. The wait doesn’t matter to the audience since its a Rajinikanth movie.
2.0 is the sequel of Shankar’s sci-fi film Enthiran released back in 2010. Rajinikanth will be reprising his dual roles of scientist Vaseegaran and robot Chitti in this upcoming movie. Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar is making his South Indian debut by playing the antagonist in this movie. Adil Hussain, Sudhanshu Pandey, Malayali actor Kalabhavan Shajon and Riyaz Khan are also part of the cast.
Lyca Productions is bankrolling the movie, which is the highest for an Indian film currently under production. AR Rahman is handling the music department. The teaser of the film will be released in November and trailer in December.
