Stand Up opens to unanimously positive reviews!
‘Stand Up’ starring Nimisha Sajayan and Rajisha Vijayan in the leads hit screens last day (December 13). The film has opened to unanimously positive reviews all over. Rajisha’s performance is the stand out in the film and rightly full, she has been getting widespread appreciated from all corners.
‘Stand Up’ directed by Vidhu Vincent is not a fun, feel-good comedy centred around the stand up comedy scene. Instead, the title has an inner meaning which sounds apt for the film. Stand up comedy is just a tool to narrate a story that’s very relevant and important in today’s times.
Since the film is helmed by a woman director, it is very sensitively made with almost zero male gaze. Director Vidhu has done extremely well to capture the trauma of women who suffer from abusive relationships. Along with that, the film also puts forward its criticism against the society’s narrow mindset, the importance of consent and how policing system work according to the whims of influential people.
‘Stand Up’ is scripted by Umesh Omanakuttan. The film also stars Arjun Ashokan, Venkitesh, Nisthar Sait, Seema, Sajitha Madathil, Jolly Chirayath, Rajesh Sharma, Sunil Sukhada, Divya Gopinath, Junice and Sethulekshmi in supporting roles. All the aforementioned actors have done their parts well and have been getting their due praise. B Unnikrishnan and Anto Joseph have produced the film, which is expected to have a long run in theatres.
