Suresh Gopi’s Lelam 2 to go on floors this September!
As we had earlier reported, Renji Panicker is scripting the sequel for his 1997 blockbuster film ‘Lelam’. While Joshiy directed Lelam, Renji’s son Nithin Renji Panicker will be helming the sequel. The youngster made his directorial debut in 2016 with the Mammootty starrer Kasaba. Renji Panicker in a recent interview informed that scripting is in the final stages and the movie will start rolling by the end of August or September.
Suresh Gopi will be reprising his iconic character Aanakattil Chackochi in the sequel. His terrific portrayal of the fiery Chackochi had won him numerous fans and accolades during the time of Lelam’s release in 1997. Running high on Suresh Gopi’s stardom and late actor Soman’s outstanding performance, Lelam emerged as a huge blockbuster.
Nandini, Siddique and Maniyanpilla Raju, who played crucial roles in Lelam, are likely to be part of the sequel as well. Trustworthy reports suggest that Suresh Gopi’s Gokul will also be there in a major role in the movie. More details regarding the other cast and crew members are expected to be revealed soon. Renji Panicker and Josemon Simon will be producing the movie.
