Suriya and Mohanlal to clash with Prabhas at box office
If reports are to be believed, stage is getting ready for a big box office clash this Independence Day. Prabhas starrer ‘Saaho’ has already been announced as an August 15 release. Latest to join the race is ‘Kaappaan’ starring Suriya and Mohanlal in the leads. Both the films have massive expectations among the audience, so it will be interesting to see which of the two emerges on top.
‘Saaho’ is Prabhas’ first release outside the ‘Baahubali’ franchise in nearly five years. The movie directed by Sujeeth is a high octane action thriller made on a huge budget of around 300 crores. It is being made as a multilingual in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi with popular actors from industries across the country. Bollywood diva Shraddha Kapoor is playing the female lead. Jackie Shroff, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Chunky Pandey, Mandira Bedi, Mahesh Manjrekar, Arun Vijay, Lal and Tinnu Anand are playing prominent roles in the movie.
‘Kaappaan’ is also a big budget action flick that has a star studded cast. The movie has Mohanlal playing the Indian Prime Minister’s role while Suriya will be seen as a high-rank National Security Guard (NSG) officer, who is in charge of the PM’s security. Arya, Boman Irani, Sayyeshaa and Samuthirakani are also part of the cast. Shoot is currently progressing at a brisk pace and the makers are working towards an Independence Day release. Given the movie’s patriotic nature, trade experts believe that it will be an ideal slot.
