Suriya-Vetrimaaran’s “Vaadivaasal” to Begin Filming in April 2025, Pongal 2027 Release Confirmed
Exciting news awaits fans of Suriya as fresh details emerge about his highly anticipated project Vaadivaasal. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Vetrimaaran, the film is set to start shooting in April 2025, with a grand release planned for Pongal 2027. The extensive production and post-production schedule, spanning 12 to 15 months, reflects the ambitious scope of the film.
Announced in 2022, Vaadivaasal has been eagerly awaited as it marks the first collaboration between Suriya and Vetrimaaran. The film’s concept poster, featuring an ancient coin depicting a bull, and a promo showcasing Suriya training for jallikattu—a traditional bull-taming sport from Tamil Nadu—have already created waves among fans.
Vetrimaaran will begin pre-production for the film after completing his ongoing project, Viduthalai 2, slated for release on December 20, 2024. Currently, Suriya is focused on Suriya 45, directed by RJ Balaji. With no Suriya releases lined up for 2026, fans can look forward to Vaadivaasal as a major event in 2027.
Featuring music by GV Prakash Kumar, Vaadivaasal promises to blend Vetrimaaran’s mastery of storytelling with Suriya’s unmatched on-screen charisma, making it a much-awaited addition to Tamil cinema.
