Suvarna Chakoram for best film for This Is Not A Burial, It’s A Resurrection; Audience poll Rajata Chakoram for best film for Churuli at 25th IFFK
The 25th edition of International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) concluded on Friday in Palakkad with the awards ceremony. Legendary filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan was the chief guest at the event held at Priya theatre. The Suvarna Chakoram for best film was awarded to South African film ‘This Is Not A Burial, It’s A Resurrection’, directed by Lemohang Jeremiah Mosese.
Malayalam filmmaker Lijo Jose Pellissery’s ‘Churuli’ won the audience poll Rajata Chakoram for the best film. The Rajata Chakoram for the best director was bagged by Bahman Tavoosi, who directed ‘The Names of the Flowers’ (Los Nombres De Las Flores).
‘Musical Chair’ directed by Vipin Atley won the NETPAC Award for the best Malayalam film. ‘In Between Dying’ won the FIPRESCI Award for the best film in international competition. ‘Android Kunjappan Ver 5.25’, directed by Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval won the FIPRESCI Award for the best Malayalam film.
Alejandro Telemaco Tarraf, who directed ‘Piedra Sola’, won the Rajata Chakoram for the best debut director. ‘Sthalpuran – Chronicle of Space’ won the NETPAC Award for the best Asian film in the competition. Akshay Indikar, who made the film, was chosen for FFSI KR Mohanan Award for the best debut director from India.
