SZIFF 2019: Lijo Jose Pellissery, Chemban Vinod and PF Mathews bag awards at global level
Team ‘Ee.Ma.Yau’ continue to bring more glory to Malayalam cinema. The movie’s director Lijo Jose Pellissery, scriptwriter PF Mathews and lead actor Chemban Vinod Jose bagged top awards at the 2019 edition of Sinema Zetu International Film Festival (SZIFF).
SZIFF is a 53 day long Film Festival held annual in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. The festival had two categories – Swahili Panorama and World Cinema.
The Swahili Panorama had representation of around 135 movies produced in Swahili language from different African countries, while the ‘World Cinema’ category witnessed 35 movies from 19 countries including Afghanistan, China, Estonia, India, Iran, Italy, Indonesia, Germany, Kenya, Nigeria, Philippines, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Tanzania, Thailand, Turkey, Uganda, Zambia.
Apart from ‘Ee.Ma.Yau’, Hindi films ‘Pihu’ and ‘Padmaavat’ also bagged a couple of awards at SZIFF. Here’s the complete list of awards:
Best Film – Pihu
Best Actor – Ranveer Singh (Padmaavat) and Chemban Vinod Jose (Ee.Ma.Yau)
Best Actress – Leena Alam (A Letter to the President) and Myra Vishwakarma (Pihu)
Best Screenplay – PF Mathews (Ee.Ma.Yau) and Vida Salehi (Golnesa)
Best Editing – Dominykas Kilciauskas (Sasha Was Here)
Best Original Music – Christopher Kaiser and Julian Maas (The Silent Revolution)
Best Cinematography – Talib Rasmussen (Fatuma)
