Tamil version of Thalaivi censored with U certificate
‘Thalaivi’, the biopic of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, is getting ready for release in Tamil and Hindi. The makers have acquired a clean U certificate for the Tamil version. The film was set to have a grand theatrical release on April 23 but had to be postponed due to the second wave of pandemic. It is now expected to hit screens as soon as the situation gets better.
Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut plays the lead role in ‘Thalaivi’. The film is directed by AL Vijay, who is known for his films like ‘Madrasapattinam’ and ‘Thalaivaa’. For ‘Thalaivi’, Kangana had taken lot of efforts, which includes learning Tamil language and getting trained in classical dancing. She had also put on extra weight for playing the character. Arvind Swamy essays the role of MGR in the film. Shamna Kasim and Samuthirakani are essaying other major roles.
‘Thalaivi’ is scripted jointly by ‘Baahubali’ writer KV Vijayendra Prasad and Rajat Arora. Vishal Vittal cranks the camera and music composed by GV Prakash. It is jointly produced by Vishnu Induri and Shaailesh R Singh.
