Tovino Thomas to start shooting for Dhanush’s Maari 2 from January
Tovino Thomas is one of the busiest actors in M-Town currently. Apart from a handful of projects in Malayalam, the actor is also making his Tamil debut with BR Vijayalakshmi’s bilingual movie Abiyum Anuvum. Another big project in his kitty is the Dhansuh starrer Maari 2.
Tovino has been roped in to play the villain in this sequel for Dhanush’s 2015 film Maari. Balaji Mohan, who helmed the first part, will be directing the sequel as well. Premam fame Sai Pallavi is paired opposite Dhanush in the movie.
Shoot for the movie is scheduled to kick-start in January. Tovino is currently busy working on multiple projects. After the wrapping up the shoot of his ongoing Maradona, he will be joining the sets of newcomer TP Fellini’s Theevandi.
Signing Tovino as the villain for Maari 2 was a great move by the makers as the actor enjoys a good market in Kerala. Director Balaji Mohan had recently said that he enjoyed sketching the villain character and assured that Tovino’s combination scenes with Dhanush will be very interesting.
The villain role in the first part, played by playback singer Vijay Yesudas, was the movie’s weakest link. So, the director has taken extra care this time to place a strong antagonist opposite the powerful Maari.
Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films will be producing Maari 2. The makers have informed that the movie will be made as a bilingual in Tamil and Telugu. Both the movies will be separately shot and released simultaneously.
The sequel is being planned to be made on a bigger scale than the first part with higher production values. With a star studded line up of actors, Maari 2 is expected to do some great business in the box office.
