Wamiqa Gabbi to Star Opposite Ranveer Singh in Basil Joseph’s Shaktimaan-Inspired Superhero Film?
Wamiqa Gabbi, who has been making waves with her stellar performances in projects like Baby John alongside Varun Dhawan and Keerthy Suresh, is now rumored to star as the female lead in Ranveer Singh’s much-anticipated Shaktimaan-inspired superhero film. Directed by Minnal Murali fame Basil Joseph, this ambitious project marks Bollywood’s grand adaptation of the legendary Indian superhero.
According to Mid-Day, Wamiqa has emerged as the top contender for the role in this high-budget venture. A source close to the project revealed that Wamiqa’s growing popularity across Hindi and regional cinema has made her a frontrunner. She is reportedly in talks for a Telugu film with Nani, further cementing her versatility.
Ranveer Singh, currently wrapping up Aditya Dhar’s spy thriller, is expected to shift focus to Basil’s superhero film by March 2025, with production slated to begin in May. Basil has been actively conducting script readings and meetings with Ranveer in Mumbai despite language barriers.
Jointly produced by Sony Pictures India and Sajid Nadiadwala, the film has been in development for five years and is targeting a 2026 release. It promises a groundbreaking cinematic spectacle for Indian audiences.
