Will Theri collect 100 crore even before release as a pre-release business ?
Ilaya Thalapathy starrer flick named Theri directed by Atlee is all set to hit the screens on April 14th and the film is making great pre-release business as per reports. The flick has been raking in great amount of money by selling distribution rights at various regions and markets all over. In Kerala, the film will be distributed by the popular banner of Friday Film House in association with Carnival Motion pictures. They had bought the rights for a record 5.6 crores. Now, the talk in the town is that whether this flick will be able to make 100 crore business even before its release ?
Vijay’s last film Puli had earned 100 crore+ as pre-release business and everybody looking forward to know whether Theri can do the same. Puli had earned Rs 39 crore by selling its theater rights in Tamil Nadu, 5.5 cr from Karnataka rights and from all other regions in India it had raked in a total of 16 crores as theater rights. From overseas rights it had got 14 crores. Sun TV network bought its Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam channel rights for 22 crores and the Hindi version rights sold for 2.5 crores. Its total pre-release business stands at 101 crore.
Theri is already made record in Kerala and as per reports it has been getting great offers from all around India. Its overseas rights were bought by Cine Galaxy for a record amount as per reports and Channel rights too will be very high. The disadvantage it had is that there will not be a Hindi version for this film and it had literally closed down a source of pre-release business. It may be difficult for Theri to cross the record pre-release business made by Puli.
The business deals are not yet confirmed as the talking is going on between Kalaipuli S Thanu and distributors from various regions. The amounts will be out later in in this week and the question remains that whether it will touch 100 crore mark in the pre-release business or not..?
