Yatra: Mammootty likely to start shooting for YSR biopic from June!
Last day it was officially announced that Mammootty will be playing the lead in former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s biopic. Director Mahi Raghav broke the news through his Twitter handle. The movie titled as ‘Yatra’ will have Mammootty playing the late CM.
Reportedly, Mammootty has given his call sheets for the movie from June. The makers are planning to complete shooting and post-production formalities in six months and release the film either in December or January 2019. The makers will soon be meeting Mammootty and work for the characterization together.
YS Rajasekhara Reddy, popularly known as YSR, is one of the most politicians that Andhra Pradesh has ever seen. YSR died in an air crash in 2009 after the helicopter carrying him crashed in a dense forest. He was so popular that hundreds of his followers committed suicide upon hearing his death. This upcoming biopic will showcase some of the important aspects of his life and his political journey.
According to director Mahi Raghav, Yatra is an event-based film which primarily focuses on the time during YSR’s three-month-long padayatra in 2003. The padayatra was a defining moment in his career which transformed him into a people’s leader. It will be interesting to see how Mammootty plays YSR in the movie.
Yatra will be produced jointly by Vijay Chilla and Shashi Devi under the banner of 70mm Entertainments. The makers have already got the approval from YSR’s family members for the biopic. An official announcement with details about the entire cast and crew is expected to be made very soon.
