Nivin Pauly and Biju Menon to team up for Thuramukham

As reported by us recently, Nivin Pauly is joining hands with director Rajeev Ravi teaming up for a movie titled ‘Thuramukham’. As the title suggests, the movie is revolves around a harbour and the lives of coastal people. We hear that it is a story set in the Cochin harbour in the early 1950s. Nivin Pauly will be playing a challenging role in the film, which is based on real life events.

As per latest reports, the makers have roped in Biju Menon to play a crucial role in the movie. If it turns out to be true, this will be Biju Men’s first film with Nivin. It will be interesting to see the two actors together on screen. The movie already has Nimisha Sajayan as the female lead. Just like her earlier films, her role in ‘Thuramukham’ is also said to be a performance-oriented one.

‘Thuramukham’ is based on the historic protests against the inhuman ‘chappa’ system, wherein copper coins were thrown to waiting workers in a primitive ‘work guarantee’ scheme, which had resulted in police firing and martyrdom of three labourers in Mattancherry.

KM Chidambaran had earlier written a play named ‘Thuramukham’. Rajeev Ravi’s movie is supposedly inspired from this play. The playwright’s son, Gopan Chidambaram, a scenarist, who has previously co-written ‘Iyobinte Pusthakam’, is reportedly scripting the movie.

Shoot is expected to commence soon after Nivin wraps up his ongoing commitments. An official announcement with details regarding the cast and crew will be made soon.

Dulquer Salmaan pens a note on the seventh anniversary of Second Show

It has been exactly seven years since Dulquer Salmaan made his entry to the world of cinema. Today, he is not just one of the biggest stars in Malayalam cinema, he has also successfully established himself as a pan-Indian actor. Having done films in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, Dulquer is currently shining in glitz and glamour. But it all started with a very ordinary entry without any sort of fanfare. His debut film ‘Second Show’ had a bunch of newcomers, both in the cast and crew. On the seventh anniversary of the movie, the actor penned a sweet little note thanking his parents, friends, industry insiders and all the film lovers, who have continuously supported and encouraged him.

Dulquer’s note reads,

Today marks 7 years since my first film released. Ironically called #SecondShow ! Don’t think I’ve ever been as afraid in life as I was during that period. In many ways I put undue pressure on myself. Felt I couldn’t afford to put one foot wrong. More than anything didn’t want to be a huge embarrassment to my wonderful parents. But there was something so organic and natural about how everything flowed from the time I said yes to this film. Around the same time I met my to be wife. Midway through the filming of SS, #UstadHotel came my way. Something about that year, everything in my life changed. Maybe the stars aligned. Maybe it was all written. Maybe it was was destiny. Maybe it was Gods will. Maybe it was maybelline ! Haha jokes aside as always I’m only full of gratitude. To my beloved family. My epic friends. The amazing people of the one of a kind Malayalam film industry. The wonderful folk of other industries that welcomed me out of the love & respect they have for Malayalam films. More than anything the incredible film lovers that shower me with endless love and encouragement. I bow before all of you with the utmost gratitude. Here’s to the next year !
