My God Malayalam Movie Review

My God Malayalam Movie Review, My God, My God review, My God movie review rating, suresh gopi My God review

My God, one of the Malayalam films that released today is a Suresh Gopi starrer film directed by M. Mohanan of Kadha Parayumbol and Manikkyakkallu fame. It is a Suresh Gopi starrer that comes after a fair gap in Mollywood but we can’t say it as a Suresh Gopi starrer usual entertainer. It is more of a film for children and parents which gives them an awareness about parenting as well as to respect the dreams of their children. It is also a film coming from M.Mohanan after a gap as well as his last film was Asif Ali- Anoop Menon starrer flick 916 which released few years back. There was not much anticipation for the film as well among the film lovers but created a curiosity only because it is a Suresh Gopi starrer.

The story of the film revolves around a boy named Sam Thottungal. The film begins with an incident in which Sam is arrested by the police for killing his own father. Later he was sent juvenile home and while he was there he shows signs of abnormal mental health. Then comes the character of Honey Rose, who plays the character named Dr. Arathy, who is all set to go to Newyork to join with her husband named Aadinarayana Bhattathirippadu who is one of the highest official of one of the Global IT Company. But she has to cancel the trip as she had to involve in the rehabilitation process of Sam. Later Aadhi, played by Suresh Gopi come there and he found Sam to be one of his chat friend in social media whom he loves like his own child and from then on both Arathy and Aadhi tries to bring back Sam to his normal self.

Master Adarsh plays the central character Sam and he played that introvert character of Sam with satisfaction. Both Suresh Gopi and Hone rose did good as well but have to say honestly that Suresh Gopi had nothing to do in it. It was a waste of talent as far as we are concerned. Joy Mathew as the arrogant father of Sam, Sreenivasan as a Priest Vadakkan played their part well as well.

The film discussed an age old theme of children gets ill- treated in family , their dreams given no respect and later they becomes introverts. Then comes someone to his life like God and changes all things to his favor and at last the child achieves something special to win the hearts of all. So there is nothing new in this film as well. The bad execution made it worse to say honestly. The dialogues are not at all realistic but at many places it was dramatic as well. The pace of the film was too slow and it tested the patience at many points. The music by Bijipal had failed miserably as well to evoke any emotion in the mind of the audience. Jithu Damodar’s DOP and Renjan Abraham’s editing was also raised only up to an average level as they had nothing in it to show their skills.

Geo Mathew’s screenplay was poor even though we can see an effort to tell something good and relevant in it. Mohanan as a director seems the shadow of himself and he had to realize his capability as a director as well. He can make a cinema which can enlighten the audience through entertainment if he wants that. But this time more than a cinema he just made an awareness campaign in screen for parents and it is more like a documentary than film at many parts.

As a whole My God is an attempt to make a Taare Zameen Par kind of film in Mollywood and have to say that it failed big time as we have seen many good films with the same before in many languages.
