Jayasurya- Rojin Thomas movie “Kathanar” teaser trailer unveiled
Gokulam Gopalan’s Sree Gokulam Movies has unveiled the teaser of its ambitious big-budget film Kathanar, starring Jayasurya and directed by Rojin Thomas. The film, written by R. Ramanand and Rojin Thomas, is currently in the final stages of post-production and is being positioned as one of the most expensive productions in Malayalam cinema.
Marking Rojin Thomas’s next project after the National Award-winning “Home”, the film reunites the core creative team after five years. Kathanar revisits the legendary figure of Kadamattathu Kathanar but departs from familiar portrayals seen in films and television, offering a fresh, research-driven narrative. Set in the ninth century, the film aims to present a unique visual language distinct from conventional period fantasy dramas.
The teaser showcases high production values, featuring striking visuals, extensive VFX work, and a powerful background score composed by Rahul Subrahmanyan. The makers emphasize that nearly 500 technicians worked over five years to achieve the film’s scale and technical finesse, reflecting a strong focus on detail across departments.
Rojin Thomas credited the unwavering support of producer Gokulam Gopalan and the production team, while also highlighting Jayasurya’s commitment, dedicating nearly four years to the project. The film’s earlier promotional materials had already generated significant buzz, and the teaser further strengthens expectations of a grand cinematic experience.
Alongside Jayasurya, the cast includes Anushka Shetty, Prabhu Deva, Sanoop San, Sandy, Devika, Nitish Bharadwaj, Vineeth, Harish Uthaman, Sreekanth Murali, and Kulpreet Yadav, and several others in key roles. Kathanar is slated for release in 15 languages, aiming for a wide-reaching audience.
