Uma Maheshwara Ugra Roopasya: Check out the teaser of Maheshinte Prathikaram Telugu remake
After an unsuccessful remake in Tamil, superhit Malayalam film ‘Maheshinte Prathikaram’ is now getting a Telugu version. Titled as ‘Uma Maheshwara Ugra Roopasya’, the film is directed by Venkatesh Maha, who last helmed the widely acclaimed ‘C/O Kancherapalam’. Its teaser has just been released online and it looks a faithful remake that carries the essence of the original intact.
‘Maheshinte Prathikaram’ written by Syam Pushkaran and directed by Dileesh Pothan is one of the most acclaimed Malayalam films in recent years. The film went on to win two awards at the National level – for the Best Feature in Malayalam and Best Screenplay. Ace filmmaker Priyadarshan remade the film in Tamil as ‘Nimir’ but it ended up as a failure.
In the Telugu version, Satyadev Kancharana, noted for his roles in films like ‘Brochevarevarura’, ‘iSmart Shankar’ and ‘George Reddy’, is playing the lead role. He is reprising the character played by Fahadh Faasil in the original. Naresh, Suhas, Jabbardast Ramprasad, TNR, Ravindra Vijayan and veteran Malayali actor K Raghavan are also part of the film’s supporting cast.
The film’s technical crew also has some Malayali presence. Bijibal, who had composed music in the original, has been retained. Appu Prabhakar, winner of the Best Cinematography Award (non-feature) at the 65th National Film Awards, is making his Telugu debut.
‘Baahubali’ makers Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni of Arka Media Works is producing the film along with Vijaya Praveena Paruchuri.
