Vidya Balan is effortless as ever in this promising trailer of Shakuntala Devi
Vidya Balan’s biopic on renowned mathematician Shakuntala Devi is gearing up for release. Amazon Prime has bagged the film’s streaming rights and it will be premiering on July 31. The makers meanwhile have released the trailer online. It encapsulates the journey of Shakuntala Devi who started off from a humble background to become a world famous mathematician. She was popularly known as the ‘Human Computer’. Her extraordinary skills in solving complex mathematical problems earned her a place in the 1982 edition of The Guinness Book of World Records.
Shakuntala Devi has also written a number of books, including novels as well as texts about mathematics, puzzles, and astrology. She also wrote the book ‘The World of Homosexuals’, which is considered the first study of homosexuality in India. It will be interesting to see what all chapters of her life the makers have explored in the film.
The film is directed by Anu Menon and produced jointly by Vikram Malhotra of Abundantia Entertainment and Sony Pictures Network. Anu Menon and Nayanika Mahtani have scripted the film with dialogues penned by Ishita Moitra. Sanya Malhotra, Prakash Belawadi, Amit Sadh, Jisshu Sengupta and many others are part of the cast.
