Pawan Kalayan and Vijay Sethupathi in Ayyappanum Koshiyum Telugu remake?
The Malayalam blockbuster ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ is set to be remade in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi languages. Remake rights have already been bagged by top production houses from the respective industries and pre-production works are currently underway. Telugu rights of the film was bagged by Sithara Entertainment.
It was initially reported that the Telugu remake will have Rana Daggubati and Ravi Teja in the lead roles. However, going by the latest reports there seems to be a total shift in the casting. Superstar Pawan Kalyan is said to have shown interest in the project. He is likely to play the role played by Biju Menon in the orginal. For reprising Prithviraj’s character, the makers are in talks with Tamil star Vijay Sethupathi. It is reported that a formal announcement regarding the same will be made on September 2, which happens to be Pawan Kalyan’s birthday.
Venki Atlury, known for directing films like ‘Tholi Prema’ and ‘Rang De’, is likely to helm the Telugu version of ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’. The original directed by Sachy revolves around the raging conflict between a policeman and a retired havildar. Since the film was a huge hit, the makers of the remake versions will be hoping to repeat a similar success.
