Pulimurugan Review

At last, the wait is over for Malayalam film lovers as the most awaited movie in Mollywood, Pulimurugan had graced the screens all over India today. This is the biggest budget Malayalam movie in the career of Complete Actor Mohanlal and it has been conceived by Vysakh who had earlier delivered box office successes like Pokkiri Raja, Seniors, Mallu Singh etc.

The screenplay of this big budget movie has been penned down by popular writer Udaya Krishna and this one happens to be his first independent screenplay. Tomichan Mulakupadam had produced the movie under his banner named Mulakupadam Films.

The movie revolves around the title character played by Mohanlal, named Murukan. Murukan loses his mother while she was giving birth to her second child. He loses his father too when his father had to sacrifice his life for Murkan before a tiger.

Murukan turned against ,an eating tigers from that moment. The film shows how he becomes Puli Murukan then. The film then follows his family life and the incidents that happens in his life which turn things upside down.
Vysakh’s last film named Cousins was a big box office failure and after that when he started the work for Pulimurugan, he said that he will be making Pulimurugan by learning from the mistakes which he had committed in his previous ventures.

Vysakh indeed showed that he had learned from his mistakes and come up with gem of an entertainer named Pulimurugan. He had shown the courage to choose a unique subject and made a convincing movie out of it. He not only just made it a good movie but also made it a visual spectacle for the audience.

The way he narrated the plot, introduced each characters, controlled the pace of the narration, presented each and every situations in the story gives us an idea about the homework he had done before this movie and all his effort had got great result to say the least.

Udaya Krishna had wrote a very good screenplay. It has mass elements but at the same time he done a great job by making some down to earth characters to move the plot in the right direction. He had made the situation look convincing and that made the job of Vysakh a bit easy while he was giving a visual language to the plot.

Mohanlal once again sizzled on screen with another fantabulous performance. He is such a pleasure to watch on screen and the effort he took to make this character perfect was evident from the stunning performance of him, specially in the action sequences. He has been terrific and there is a shortage of words to describe this man’s phenomenal performance as Pulimurugan.

Apart from him, Lal had given a superb performance in the movie along with other artists like Kamalini Mukharjee, Jagapathi Babu, Kishore, Makarand Deshpande, Santhosh Keezhattoor, Namitha, Sudheer Karamana, Suraj Venjarammoodu, Bala, Siddique, Vinu Mohan, Nobi etc.

Peter Hein, the one who choreographed the fight sequences in the movie has been awesome as the stunt scenes he created for Mohanlal was stunning. The climax fight was unbelievably superb.

Shaji’s camera work has been stupendous. His frames provided the beauty and ferocity of nature and it served as the soul of this movie. Gopi Sundar’s music was very good and the songs were terrific. Editing was done by John Kutty and he had done great job.

Pulimurugan is a fabulous action adventure film which will take your breath away at many points. It has been a stunning visual and cinematic experience and one of the best ever mass entertainer we saw here in Mollywood.
