A shocking incident has happened in Bengaluru on Sunday as a group of people said to be working in a Kannada association related to cinema attacked a theater there in which a Malayalam cinema was showing. The attack was on the Sangeeth theatre at Shivaji Nagar as the group accused the theater management of frequently showing Malayalam films there. After the attack, the shows were cancelled at the theater as well. Police was there at the time of attack and they did not even care to block the ones who attacked the theater. Two new Malayalam releases was showing there and reportedly it was Rani Padmini directed by Aashiq Abu and Amar Akbar Antony directed by Nadirsha.
As it was Sunday, there were lot of malayalees there to watch the films. The attack was happened around 2.30 PM in the afternoon just before the show begins. Almost 20 people was there to attack the theater with their protest. They had torn apart the posters of Malayalam films and also destroyed some theater equipment as well. Some eye witness of the incident reported that the ones who attacked the theater said to the ones who came to watch the films that there will not be any Malayalam films showing in that theater anymore and ask the viewers to go back.
The theater management was not ready to give the money back to the ones who already booked the tickets for the shows. That also made things a little out of control there. Theater management said that from Monday there will be shows as per schedule and they will continue to play Malayalam films there. They are showing Malayalam films there for many years as well and they were not backed out from that decision after this incident.
It has been very shocking as well as sad incident. Because in Kerala we allow all the other language films to release and our audience support them as well if it’s good. But Outside Kerala our films does not even gets enough theaters to release the film and even if it get some centers these are the problems that blocks its run.
