Narasimham and Lelam had influenced me a lot, says Kasaba director Nithin Renji Panicker
Nithin Renji Panicker, son of popular writer, director and actor Renji Panicker, is all set to make his debut here in Mollywood as his first film named Kasaba is ready for an Eid release here in Kerala. The film starring Mammootty in the lead will hit the screens here on July 7 and it will be a Mass masala action thriller from Nithin Renji Panicker. Nithin Renji Panicker had written the screenplay of this film.
Nithin Renji Panicker said earlier that no one have to come to the screens to watch Kasaba expecting a Renji Panicker kind of movie. Kasaba will be different from that as the central character played by Mammootty named CI Rajan Zakariah will be a unique character. Nithin Renji Panicker told to media recently that he has been influenced by many films, which came from writers and directors whom he loves. According to Nithin he has been influenced a lot by Mohanlal starrer Shaji Kailas movie Narasimham and Suresh Gopi starrer Joshiey film named Lelam. Narasimham was scripted by Renjith and Lelam was scripted by his father Renji Panicker.
Nithin Renji Panicker said that he loved Mammootty films like Arappatta Kettiya Gramathil by Padma Rajan and Sangham by Joshiey as well. He felt that Mammootty’s best performance was came in those movies and his most favorite among them is the character named Kuttappayi from the movie Sangham. Nithin Renji Panicker says he was influenced by the situations and dialogue pattern written by his father and at the same time tried to create his own style as well. When he watched Lelam, he felt that it was the best movie in India at that time. That much was the impact of that film on him.

Nithin Renji Panicker don’t believes in the notion that old films and the pattern they followed has no relevance at all now. He believes that still those films has an important role to play here as it influenced people of his age. According to Nithin, Youngsters who are around his age still loves to see films that released before the year 2000. So, he begun the filming of Kasaba by remembering all the earlier film makers and writers who influenced him in some way or other.
