Nivin Pauly movie Sakhavu stopped due to the demonetization issue
With the sudden withdrawal of higher denomination notes from usage, commercial sector has been severely affected in the country.
Cinema industry throughout the country are still finding it difficult to cope up with the situation. Shoot for many movies have been temporarily stopped and many releases are also being postponed.
Latest to the list, is young star Nivin Pauly’s upcoming movie Sakhavu. The actor was set to start the third schedule of Sakhavu, directed by Sidhartha Siva from November 18.
The shoot was planned in Peerumedu in Idukki district for 35 days. Production expenses account to almost 3.5 lakhs per day. But with the present situation prevailing in the country, the producer B Rakesh could withdraw only rupees 24,000 from the bank.

2.5 lakhs could be paid for the technical crew through cheques and online transfers. But the expense for food, location rent, crew member’s daily salary cannot be paid through these modes of transactions.
Shooting for many Malayalam movies have been stopped owing to notes shortage. Many producers are trying to mortgage from private financiers and bankers to complete the shoot in time.
