How did Antony Perumbavoor join with Mohanlal ?
Antony Perumbavoor has been a long time close associate of Mohanlal. His journey from a car driver to Mohanlal’s trusted aide is very inspiring. It has been 28 years since Antony Perumbavoor joined with Mohanlal.
But not many know how Antony met the superstar of Malayalam cinema and how he became his close aide.
In a recent interview, Antony Perumbavoor shared his experiences with Mohanlal when he met for the time.
Antony Perumbavoor was asked by a friend to join as a driver in a shooting set. He reached the sets of the movie Pattana Pravesham. Mohanlal boarded his car and through the journey from the location to the hotel, Mohanlal enquired about Antony’s name and other details. For the next 22 odd days, Mohanlal travelled in Antony’s car till the shoot was over.
On the last day Antony asked Mohanlal whether he would remember him if they ever get a chance to meet next time, to which Mohanlal replied why are you asking like that.
After reaching his hometown, Antony told his friends about meeting superstar Mohanlal, but no one believed him. One day Mohanlal was shooting for Moonnam Mura in Ambalamugal. Antony took his friends with him to watch the shoot.
Much to the surprise of Antony, Mohanlal waived hands after seeing him in the crowd. The actor met all his friends and asked Antony about his well being. Mohanlal also asked for his car.
Till the shoot was over, Mohanlal travelled in Antony’s car. One day Mohanlal asked Antony to join him. That day in July 1988 changed Antony Perumbavoor’s life forever.
Today he is one of the most influential men in the Malayalam film industry. He looks after Mohanlal’s many businesses including the production house Aashiravad Cinemas and the subsidiary comapny Maxlab Entertainments.
Life has taken a full circle for Antony Perumbavoor. After producing his mentor in many blockbuster movies like Narasimham, Ravanaprabhu, Naran, Drishyam and more recently Oppam, he will be producing Pranav Mohanlal’s debut movie also. This movie directed by Jeethu Joseph is set to go on floors next year.
