Vinayan to direct a movie on Kalabhavan Mani’s life
2016 was a commercially great year for Malayalam cinema but the year was equally heartbreaking due to the bereavement of many dear artists from the industry. One among them was the shocking death of Kalabhavan Mani. The multifaceted actor passed away in March in a mysterious circumstances.
Starting from a humble background as an auto driver in Chalakudy, Kalabhavan Mani went on to become one of the most sought after actors in the industry. His talents knew no boundaries as he crossed the language barriers and made a mark for himself in all the South Indian industries.
Kalabhavan Mani’s life is now being made into a movie which will be directed by Vinayan. The director himself announced the news through a Facebook post he updated after taking charge as the chairman of the Kerala State Horticultural Products Development Corporation.
Kalabhavan Mani has acted in several movies directed by Vinayan, notable among them include Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njaanum, Karumadi Kuttan, Rakshasa Rajavu etc.
He won a National Special Jury award for his performance in Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njaanum. Vinayan recently came out with severe criticisms against the organisers of IFFI Goa and IFFK Kerala for disregarding Kalabhavan Mani.
Kalabhavan Mani’s death came as a huge shock to the industry. He was hospitalised by his close acquaintances after he vomited blood and fell unconscious in his outhouse.
He finally succumbed to death on March 6. There are still many unanswered questions and mystery surrounding his death. The police are investigating the case for the past 8 months.
