Joy Mathew and Mammootty to team up soon
According to the latest buzz, actor turned filmmaker Joy Mathew will be joining hands with Megastar Mammootty soon for a new project. Reportedly, Joy Mathew will be writing the script for this movie which is tentatively titled as Uncle. Gireesh will be directing this movie. More details about the remaining cast and crew members are not yet known. An official announcement regarding the movie is still awaited.
Joy Mathew debuted as a filmmaker in 2012 through Shutter which he also scripted. The movie starring Sreenivasan, Lal, Sajitha Madathil and Vinay Forrt in the lead roles was a highly acclaimed movie. It was screened at several film festivals including IFFK and the International Film Festival of Dubai.
Shutter was both a critical and commercial success. The movie was remade in all major Indian language, Marathi, Tamil, Tulu, Telugu, Punjabi and Kannada.
Mammootty meanwhile is busy shooting for 7th Day fame Shyam Dhar’s untitled movie. He is playing an Idukki native who moves fo Ernakulam as a teacher trainer. He has also finished shooting for Puthan Panam directed by ace filmmaker Ranjith. Mammootty is playing the character Nithyananda Shenoy, a middle aged businessman in the movie. The movie will release during the Vishu season this year.
This year, Mammootty has also committed for movies with directors like Shafi, Rajadhiraja fame Ajai Vasudev and writer Sethu’s debut directorial. There are rumours about Mammootty teaming with cinematographer Shamdat, who has worked in movies like Uttama Villain and Vishwaroopam 2, for his debut directorial. Pulimurugan director Vysakh’s mass entertainer Raja 2, a spin off from the character Pokkiriraja is also in the pipeline.
His next release is the much anticipated, The Great Father scheduled to hit screens on March 30. National award winner Ram’s bilingual movie Peranbu is also expected to hit screens soon.
