Mammootty in a variety of looks for his upcoming movies
It’s been almost two months into 2017 and Mammootty fans are still waiting to see their matinee idol on big screen. But the wait will be worth it, as the actor has some exciting projects in his kitty. Right from his next release, The Great Father to the recently committed Shyam Dhar project, all the movies have good hype and potential to become huge successes.
Interestingly, the actor will be seen in different looks for all these movies. His uber cool bearded avatar for The Great Father has already become a trend among the youngsters. Directed by debutant Haneef Adeni, this revenge thriller is certainly the most anticipated Mammootty starrer in recent years. The movie is slated to have a grand release on March 30.
Next in the pipeline is ace filmmaker Ranjith’s Puthan Panam. Mammootty is playing the character Nithyananda Shenoy, a middle aged businessman. He will be seen with thick moustache and a salt-n-pepper look in the movie. The movie will hit screens in April during the Vishu season.
Mammootty is currently shooting for 7th Day fame Shyam Dhar’s untitled movie. The movie will be a light hearted entertainer featuring Nee-na fame Deepti Sati and Asha Sarath as the female leads. Mammootty is playing an Idukki native who comes to Kochi as a teacher trainer. Mammootty’s character has a peculiar name in the movie and the team will be revealing the name along with the title.
National award winner Ram’s upcoming release Peranbu is in the final stages of post production. The movie marked the return of Mammootty to Kollywood after a long hiatus. It’s been widely reported that Mammootty’s perfomance in the movie has the potential to win yet another National award, if the jury does not turn a blind eye towards him as has the case been for many deserving performances in recent years. The movie will also have a dubbed version in Malayalam after Mammootty that the theme discussed will appeal to the Malayali audience as well.
Raja 2, Vysakh’s spin off with the character Madurai Raja from the blockbuster Pokkiriraja is another highly anticipated movie of the year. Mammootty will once again sport the famous handlebar moustache in Raja 2. Vysakh had earlier assured that it will be a more racy and technically advanced movie comprising of all elements that the audience usually expect for in a Mammootty movie. Raja 2 will reportedly be the biggest movie in Mammootty’s career in terms of budget. It is being planned as a trilingual in Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu.
Mammootty will be teaming up with Nadirshah this year for an entertainer. Interestingly, the actor will be seen as a 4 feet tall pint-sized man in the movie. The team will be using CGI works to show Mammootty as the undersized person. Scripted by Benny P Nayarambalam, this movie will be a rural entertainer with more prominence to humour.
Mammootty has also committed for scriptwriter Sethu’s debut directorial. Titled as Kozhi Thankachan, it will be a rural entertainer dealing with a relevant subject told in a humorous approach. Mammootty will be seen as an ordinary villager in the movie. Nyla Usha and Vedhika are playing the female leads in this movie. The movie is expected to go on floors by May this year.
Karnan, written by P Sreekumar is also expected to go on floors this year. According to unofficial reports, National award winner Madhupal will helm this project.
Apart from the above mentioned movies, Mammootty has also committed for movies with directors like Shafi, Rajadhiraja fame Ajai Vasudev and cinematographer Shamdat.
With so many exciting movies in his kitty, Mammootty is certain to enjoy a blockbuster 2017.
