Akshay Kumar donates Rs 1.08 crore to CRPF martyr’s families
Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has always lent his supporting hand to army men of the country. Recently, twelve Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans were ambushed by a group of Naxals in the Sukma district in Chattisgarh.
Akshay Kumar has donated Rs 1.08 crore to the families of twelve slain jawans of the CRPF, Rs 9 lakh each for the family of the slain jawans.
According to a report in Times of India, Akshay was in regular touch with IPS officer Amit Lodha, DIG of Jaisalmer sector north. He enquired about this encounter and requested Lodha to share all details of the killed jawans’ family. Soon after going through the details, Akshay called DIG Lodha and expressed his desire to donate Rs 9 lakh each to families of the martyred jawans.
IG Lodha was touched by the superstar’s gesture and told The Times of India, “Akshay himself has been in touch with me and he keeps enquiring about incidents and when I told him about the Sukma incident he immediately told me he would like to contribute and do his bit for the families of the martyred jawans, we are all grateful to him for this kind gesture.”
Akshay has always been vocal about his regard for army men. Few months back, Akshay had met Border Security Force (BSF) jawans and paid his tribute to soldiers who lost their lives in ceasefire violations.
Last year, he said that medals are important for the army men but they also need money. He said, “They are decorated with lot of medals and that is good. But I looked at their faces. The medals was required for them but they need money too. You have to be practical.”
We at Onlookers Media salute Akshay Kumar for this incredible gesture.
