Vijayaraghavan death hoax; action against all those who shared the rumours
Social media has it’s share of pros and cons. While it helps people to share relevant news and provides a platform to express one’s thoughts, it is also notorious for spreading fake news. Death hoax about celebrities is one of the most alarming issues. Recently, veteran Malayali actor Vijayaraghavan became the latest victim of death hoax on social media.
Fake news about his death spread like wild fire. People started sharing the news and expressing their condolences without even caring to cross check the authenticity of the reports.
Offered by the news, the actor slammed the death rumors and said he is alive. Apparently, the confusion triggered after a photo of him in an ambulance was found online. Actually it was a location still from the movie Ramaleela, in which he is acting now.
The actor had requested his friends and well wishers to ignore the fake news. He has also lodged the complaint with the police. DGP T.P. Senkumar warned of severe action against all those who spread the fake story via Whatsapp and Facebook.
