Mohanlal to join hands with Spadikam director Bhadran
Last year, with the record breaking success of Pulimurugan, Mohanlal proved his authority at the box office. Currently, the superstar has some highly exciting projects in his kitty; the soon to be released Villain, ongoing Lal Jose directorial Velipadinte Pusthakam, VA Shrikumar Menon’s Odiyan, Prithviraj’s debut directorial Lucifer, Shaji Kailas-Renji Panicker movie and the 1000 crore magnum opus The Mahabharata.
Talks within the industry suggest that Mohanlal has also committed for another project this time with Bhadran. As per reports, Mohanlal has already given the dates for the movie and they are planning to start shooting by the end of this year or early next year. Sophia Paul’s Weekend Blockbusters is in talks for production. Mohanlal’s first release this year, Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol was produced by the same banner.
Director Bhadran has previously worked with Mohanlal in four films namely Uncle Bun, Spadikam, Olympiyan Anthony Adam and Udayon. Spadikam, released in 1995 is widely regarded as one of Mohanlal’s best films in his three decade long career. The movie enjoys a enjoys a cult status among the Malayali audience even today. Recently, it was re-released after a gap of 22 long years on Mohanlal’s birthday.
If the reports turn out to be true and Mohanlal joins hands with Bhadran, then we can certainly expect a high voltage mass entertainer from the duo. The superstar is currently working on Lal Jose’s Velipadinte Pusthakam, a campus based entertainer in which he will be seen in the role of a vice-principal. His upcoming release is Villain, a crime thriller directed by B Unnikrishnan. The movie is slated to hit screens in August this year.
