Sultan gearing up for release in China; Will it be able to outperform Dangal?
While Salman Khan’s recent release Tubelight is getting lukewarm response from the critics as well as the common audience, here is a much needed happy news for Salman and his fans. His last year’s Eid release, Sultan is all set to be releases in China.
Every year China allows the release of around 34 foreign movies including four Indian movies. The other three Indian releases this year were Aamir Khan’s Dangal, SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Conclusion and Salman Khan’s Tubelight.
Sultan’s release in China was confirmed by trade analyst Taran Adarsh. He tweeted,
“#Sultan to release in China later this year… Meanwhile, #Sultan wins Best Action Movie Award at Shanghai International Film Festival.”
Recently, Sultan won the Best Action Movie award at the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF). This makes it the first Indian film to win this prestigious honour.
Sultan during it’s initial theatrical run in the Indian box office had raked in a whopping Rs 421.25 crore. Meanwhile, Aamir Khan’s Dangal has been doing some phenomenal business in China. The movie has grossed Rs 1210.50 from the Chinese box office.
Both Dangal and Sultan are wrestling dramas, though the Aamir Khan starrer is more of a biopic inspired from real life events. Sultan is a complete commercial entertainer with Salman’s herisom, romance with Anushka Shetty and obviously wrestling. We will have to wait and watch to see if Sultan can outperform Dangal in the Chinese box office.
