Epic clash on cards; Udaharanam Sujatha and Ramaleela releasing on the same day!
After an eventful Onam season, Mollywood is gearing up for the Pooja holidays. Dileep’s long delayed Ramaleela, Biju Menon’s Sherlock Toms, Manju Warrier’s Udaharanam Sujatha and Tovino’s Tharangam are the four films that are scheduled to hit screens during this season.
All eyes are on September 28 as Dileep’s Ramaleela and his ex-wife Manju Warrier’s Udaharanam Sujatha are releasing on the same day. There is a lot of buzz about this in social medias.
The release of Ramaleela has been a major talking point in the industry. Ever since it’s lead actor Dileep was arrested on charges of criminal conspiracy in the actress abduction case, there were many speculations about the release date. The makers had even stalled the release briefly following his shocking arrest.
On September 28, the movie will be releasing amidst a lot of issues. There are even calls to boycott the movie and attack the theatres screening Ramaleela. Inspite of all that, the movie is getting ready as Dileep’s biggest release till date. The makers along with Dileep’s fans are promoting the movie like never before and are trying to pull the audience to theatres.
Ramaleela marks the directorial debut of ad filmmaker Arun Gopi. The movie, scripted by Sachi is a political thriller in which Dileep plays the role of Ramanunni. Prayaga Rose Martin is playing the female lead opposite him. Veteran actress Radhika Sarathkumar is making a comeback to Kollywood after two decades with this movie. Tomichan Mulakupadam’s Mulakupadam Films is producing this movie.
Manju Warrier’s Udhaharanam Sujatha is directed by debutant Phantom Praveen. Manju plays the role of Sujatha, a widow who has a 15-year-old daughter. She resides in a local colony and does odd jobs to raise her daughter. Newcomer Anaswara is playing the role of Manju’s daughter in this film. Mamta Mohandas is also playing a pivotal character as the district collector.
Martin Prakkat and Anuraga Karikkin Vellam fame Naveen Bhaskar have jointly scripted this film, which will discuss the struggles of a single mother in raising her teenage daughter. Udhaharanam Sujatha is being funded by The Scene, a new production house owned by noted director Martin Prakkat and actor Joju George.
Manju Warrier had recently come out supporting Ramaleela and requested the audience not to boycott the film. Her statement was met with mixed response as some appreciated her stance while some others criticised her and claimed that she was indirectly supporting Dileep.
So, this coming Friday Malayali audience will get to witness one of the biggest clashes in recent times. Let’s wait and see which of the two come out successfully.
