Nimir: Mohanlal unveils the title of Maheshinte Prathikaram’s Tamil version
We had already reported about veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan remaking the National award winning Maheshinte Prathikaram (MP) in Tamil. Actor/producer Udhayanidhi Stalin and Malayali actress Namitha Pramod are playing the lead roles in the movie. Shoot was recently wrapped up after 40 days of continuous filming in Tenkasi.
Malayalam superstar Mohanlal has unveiled the title of the Tamil version. The movie has been titled as Nimir and a poster was also released through Mohanlal’s official Facebook handle. He also shared photos taken with Udhayanidhi Stalin and Priyadarshan during the shoot of Nimir.
Maheshinte Prathikaram, directed by Dileesh Pothan and starring Fahadh Faasil in the titular role, was a huge success, both critically and commercially. It went on to win numerous accolades including a couple of National Awards last year.
Earlier, Priyadarshan had informed that they have tweaked the original script to suit the sensibilities of the Tamil audience. While Maheshinte Prathikaram had a Christian backdrop, the Tamil verison will have a Hindu setting. Also, there will be much more prominence to humour in the Tamil version.
Namitha Pramod is making her Tamil debut with this movie. She is reprising the female lead role played by Aparna Balamurali in the original. Namitha’s character has been named as Malar. Malayali actress Parvathy Nair is reprising the character played by Anusree in the Malayalam version. Samuthirakani is essaying the villain’s role and Karunakaran will be seen as Udhayanidhi’s side-kick, which was done by Soubin Shahir in the original.
Priyadarshan has retained most of his technicians from his last film Oppam for this upcoming movie also. NK Ekambaram is wielding the camera and MS Ayyappan Nair will be handle the edits. Santhosh T Kuruvilla of Moonshot Entertainment is producing this movie.
