With Mersal, Vijay once again showcasess his amazing dancing skills
Vijay’s Mersal is currently running successfully across all the release centers. The film was released as Diwali gift to scores of Vijay fans across the globe. The Atlee directorial is doing spectacular business in theaters. Vijay is playing triple role in the movie as a doctor, a stylish magician and an 80s village head.
Each part was very much entertaining courtesy Vijay’s screen presence, Atlee’s commercial packaging and beautiful music by AR Rahman. All four songs were wonderful and Vijay’s dancing skills was nothing short of extraordinary. Vijay is an amazing entertainer and his energetic performance in Mersal is a testimony for that.
Mersal has 3 dance numbers for each characters portrayed by Vijay. All of three are choreographed in an unique style. The first one is Macho featuring Vijay as Vetri, the magician, and Kajal Aggarwal. Its a funky number sung by Sid Sriram and Shweta Mohan. Its an extremely stylish song which Atlee has picturized wonderfully. Vijay and Kajal share a great chemistry and that has reflected well on screen.
Mersal Arasan is the second number featuring Vijay as doctor Maaran. GV Prakash Kumar, Naresh Iyer, Sharanya Srinivas, Vishwaprasadh have lent their voices for this track. It is a pucca-mass local Tamil ‘kuthu’ number with some heavy steps and choreography. Vijay after a long while has done such fast numebr and the actor has rocked the floor with his fantastic moves.
Aalaporan Tamizhan is the third song and easily the best among them. The song had become a huge sensation among the listeners even before the film’s release. Atlee and his team had a huge task in doing complete justice to the beats of AR Rahman. One must say that Atlee has exceeded all expectations and has given one of the most visually appealing songs in recent times. Kailash Kher, Sathya Prakash, Deepak and Pooja AV were the contributing artists for this song. Aalaporan Tamizhan has grown up to the status of a Tamil anthem, so they had to maintain that sort of an energy throughout the track.
The initial half of the song is set in Punjab and the latter in Madurai. The art team along should also be appreciated for using the right props that expresses the culture of that particular area. Lion’s share of credits should go to choreographer Shobi. He has done an amazing job in accommodating a huge number of dancers without losing focus on Vijay. And the actor has reciprocated what exactly was needed for this song. Aalaporan Tamizhan will easily be remembered as one of Vijay’s career best songs.
Mersal is a grand treat for all music lovers and Vijay fans as well. One should watch these songs in big screen to enjoy it in all its glory.
