Prithviraj was completely fine about Vikram replacing him in Karnan: RS Vimal
Recently, director RS Vimal made a stunning announcement about his much talked about film, Karnan. The director had earlier announced the project as a multilingual with Prithviraj but it got shelved after a while. Now, he is making the film in Hindi as ‘Mahavir Karna’ with Vikram playing the titular role. A New York based production house is funding this mega budget project.
Ever since the new announcement was made, there have been several speculations about why Vikram replaced Prithviraj. Some online medias even reported about a fall out between Prithviraj and RS Vimal. But the director himself has now come out dismissing all these loose talks.
RS Vimal, in a recent interview has opened about the exact reason behind the original project in Malayalam getting dropped and how Vikram was roped in. When they initially planned the film in Malayalam, it had a budget of only Rs 30 crores. But he wanted to make it on a bigger scale, so the producer had to back out citing lack of funds as the reason.
Later, a New York based production house expressed their interest to collobarate and were willing to invest up to Rs 2000 crores. Thus, they changed the plan and are now making the movie in Hindi as ‘Mahavir Karna’ with Vikram in the lead. When RS Vimal told Prithviraj about it, the latter was completely okay with it and wished him best of luck.
The director and his team have been working on the script and pre-production for over three years now. He assures that the movie will have the best available technicians from all across the globe. Since the film is based on Mahabharatha, it has a host of other characters and some leading stars are expected to be part of it.
Mahavir Karna will go on floors in next October and is expected to release by December 2019. The movie will be made in Hindi and released in 32 other languages. Canada, Hyderabad and Jaipur have been finalized as the major locations.
