Mammootty to sport a feminine look in Mamankam!!
Megastar Mammootty’s highly anticipated period flick Mamankam went on floors earlier this week in Mangalore. The movie directed by Sajeev Pillai is based on the medieval fair, Mamankam, which was held every 12 years from 800 AD to 1755 AD. The festival was held on the banks of Bharathapuzha where brave warriors from across the country would come together to showcase their skills at combat. Mammootty plays a ‘Chaaver’ (warrior) in this movie, which revolves around the life of warriors who plot to defeat the Zamorin rulers.
Venu Kunnampilly of Kavya Films is backing this big budget project. In a recent interview, the producer spilled some exciting details about the movie. Mammootty will be sporting four different looks, one of which will be a feminine avatar. He will be appearing in this particular look for around 35 minutes on screen. These portions are said to be one of the movie’s major highlights.
Apart from Mammootty, some big stars from other industries will also be part of the movie. The female lead’s part will be played by a Bollywood actress while a young star from Tamil industry will be seen as the second hero. However, the makers have not yet revealed their names. Neeraj Madhav and ‘Queen’ fame Dhruvan are confirmed to play crucial roles in Mamankam. An official announcement regarding the full cast details will be made only after the first leg of shoot is over.
Mamankam marks the directorial debut of Sajeev Pillai, a former associate of the legendary Adoor Gopalakrishnan. He scripted the movie after doing extensive research works for nearly 12 years. Since it is a spectacle-heavy movie, the makers have signed some renowned technicians. Action sequences will be choreographed by Kaecha Kampakdee known for his works in movies like Baahubali 2, Thuppakki, Bhaagi, Vishwaroopam, Aarambam etc.
VFX works in Mamankam will be headed by RC Kamala Kannan, who has worked in several big projects in South Indian cinema. Ganesh Rajavelu aka Jim Ganesh is the cinematographer and veteran M Jayachandran has been confirmed as the composer. Besides Malayalam, the makers are also planning to release the movie in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and English.
