Padayottam Tamil remake rights sold for record price!
Biju Menon starrer Padayottam was originally supposed to hit screens for Onam. But due to the floods that struck Kerala, the movie’s release had to be postponed. It is finally getting its release this Friday (September 13). The latest we hear is that the makers have sold the movie’s Tamil remake rights for a record amount. Earlier, Surya TV had bagged the movie’s satellite rights for a huge amount. It is learnt that Padayottam is already a profitable venture for the makers.
Weekend Blockbusters, the banner which produced hit films like Bangalore Days and Padayottam, is producing this upcoming Biju Menon starrer. Debutant Rafeek Ibrahim is directing this movie, which has been publicized as a serious comedy. The promos have all been promising and the movie looks like a laugh riot.
Padayottam is scripted jointly by newcomers Arun AR and Ajai Rahul. According to the makers, the movie is a serious comedy on the lines of films like ‘Delhi Belly’ and ‘Jigarthanda’. The movie has Biju Menon playing the role of Chenkal Raju, a pucca-gangster based in Trivandrum. He is seen sporting a rugged mass look in the movie. It also has a host of supporting actors like Dileesh Pothan, Saiju Kurup, Anu Sithara, Lijo Jose Pellissery, Basil Joseph, Sudhi Koppa and Hareesh Kanaran.
