Seemaraja continues to do great business in Tamil Nadu!
It has been exactly a week since the release of Sivakarthikeyan’s. Releasing on the auspicious occasion of Vinayaka Chathurthi, the movie opened to mixed reviews from critics. But the fact that it was a festival release did wonders for the movie in the box office. As per a statement released by the makers, 24 AM Studios, the movie had grossed a whopping Rs 13.50 crore from 550 screens in Tamil Nadu alone. The four-day festival weekend (13-16 September) of turned out extremely well for the movie in the home state.
After a week of its run, Seemaraja is expected to have done a business of over Rs 40 crores worldwide. In TN alone, the gross collections is estimated to be well over Rs 30 crores. On the opening day, it had topped the Chennai city box office with figures of around Rs 3.50 crores. Seemaraja is only the sixth film to cross the Rs 1 crore mark in the first day in Chennai city box office. Sivakarthikeyan’s massive popularity among the kids and families have clearly worked in the movie’s favour.
Seemaraja is the third outing of Sivakarthikeyan with director Ponram. Their last two films, Rajini Murugan and Varuthapadatha Vaalibar Sangam, were also commercially successful. Seemaraja is slightly different from their earlier films with a tinge of historic backdrop and a relevant social message in it. The movie has Samantha as the female lead while Keerthy Suresh is there in an extended cameo role. Lal, Napolean, Simran and Soori are also part of the cast.
