Arjun joins the sets of Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham
‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’ shoot is currently underway at Ramoji Rao Film City, Hyderabad. Bulk of the shoot will be happening within the film city. The makers have erected huge sets there, which includes two massive ships. The movie which has Mohanlal playing the lead role of a 16th century naval chieftain has a star studded cast. Last day, veteran Tamil actor Arjun Sarja joined the team. Popularly known as ‘action king’, the actor plays a very crucial role in the movie.
Kunjali Marakkar was the title given to the naval chief of Zamorin of Calicut in the 16th century, whose duty was to protect the coast against the invading Portuguese army. This epic movie directed by Priyadarshan is based on the life of Kunjali Marakkar IV. While Mohanlal plays the fourth Marakkar, his son Pranav is essaying the younger part of his character.
Though the makers are yet to make an official announcement, trustworthy reports suggest that the cast comprises of Suniel Shetty, Mukesh, Madhu, Keerthy Suresh, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Manju Warrier and Pooja Kumar. Few foreign actors will also be seen in the movie. Pranav and Kalyani have already shot together for a few portions. They have another schedule left in January.
If reports are to be believed, around 100 crores are being invested on the movie. Mohanlal’s Aashirvad Cinemas, Confident Group and Moonshot Entertainment are jointly producing the movie. Production designer Sabu Cyril, cinematographer Tirru and editor MS Ayyappan Nair are part of the technical crew.
