Kalakkatha: Check out this unique song from Ayyappanum Koshiyum
The first single from Prithviraj-Biju Menon starrer ‘Ayyppanum Koshiyum’ has just been released online. The song composed by Jakes Bejoy is a very unique one and sounds like a folk number. A woman named Nanchamma has written the lyrics and sung the track. By the end of the video, it is revealed that she is not aware of Prithviraj or Biju Menon or anything about the film. Due credits to the makers for handpicking such an original artist. Prithviraj has mentioned that ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ has one of the most unusual soundtracks for a mainstream film in Malayalam. He also praised composer Jakes Bejoy for delivering director Sachy’s vision to perfection.
The story of ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ is set in the Attapadi region. It is centred around a conflict between a policeman and a retired solider over a legal issue. Biju Menon plays Ayappan Nair, a middle-aged cop and Prithviraj essays the part of Koshy Kurian, a havildar who is retired from army after 16 years of service.
Veteran director Ranjith, Anna Reshma Rajan, Siddique, Anu Mohan, Sabumon Abdusamad, Anil Nedumangad, Shaju Sreedhar and many others are part of the supporting cast. Sudeep Elamon of ‘Pathinettam Padi’ and ‘Finals’ fame is the DOP. The film is produced by director Ranjith and PM Sasidharan under the banner of Gold Coin Motion Picture Company.
