Collection Report: Ayyappanum Koshiyum continues to excel at the box office
The Sachy directorial ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ is enjoying a great run the box office. From its first 8 days of theatrical run, the film has raked in over Rs 12.40 crore. It is also doing extremely well on overseas centres. In major Rest of India (RoI) centres like China and Bangalore, the film got only released recently. Since the word of mouth is positive, it should have a good run there as well.
‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ is a well-made mass entertainer that doesn’t question the sensibilities of the audience. The film has managed to satisfy all sections of the audience. It is the story of the two titular characters – Ayyappan Nair, a soon-to-retire policeman and Koshy Kurian, a retired havildar. It primarily revolves around the conflict between them. Though the plot might sound very thin, it is an intricately woven tale of revenge with a lot of important socio-political issues addressed.
It is the brilliant performances of the two lead actors, Biju Menon and Prithviraj Sukumaran, that has worked big time for the film. Also worth a mention is the commendable performances by actors like Kottayam Ramesh, Anil Nedumangad, Anu Mohan, Gowri Nandha and some newcomers.
