Varane Avashymund trolls: Tamil actor Prasanna comes out in support of Dulquer Salmaan
Last day, a section of Tamil Twitter users came out hard against the recently released Malayalam film ‘Varane Avashyamund’ accusing that the makers have portrayed LTTE chief Velupillai Prabhakaran in poor light. Many even called for boycotting the film and Dulquer’s other upcoming projects as well.
It all started after the accusers got offended by a scene in which Suresh Gopi’s character calls his pet dog by the name Prabhakara. The enraged Tamilains allege that it was a deliberate attempt to take a dig at Velupillai Prabhakaran. The trolls got so severe that Dulquer Salmaan and the film’s director Anoop Sathyan had to come out with detailed statements clarifying that they had no such intentions to hurt anyone.
According to them, the scene in question was placed as fun reference to an older Malayalam film ‘Pattana Pravesham’, which was directed by Anoop’s father Sathyan Anthikad. The expression ‘Prabhakara’ is also a very commonly used meme in Kerala. Tamil film actor Prasanna was one of the very few to come out in support of Dulquer and team ‘Varane Avashymund’. He even apologized for the misunderstanding and all the unwarranted abuse.
Here’s a series of tweets between Dulquer and Prasanna.
Prasanna:
As a Tamil who’s seen Malayalam movies I quiet understand the context, I sincerely apologize dear @dulQuer for the misunderstanding and all the unwarranted abuse. I see the name is used just like the line “ormayundo ee mukham” by Sureshgopi sir.
Dulquer:
