Mani Ratnam, Gautham Menon, Karthick Naren, Arvind Swamy and others to team up for a web series!
OTTs are on the rise in India and ever since the lockdown, there has been a huge increase in new users. Many top stars and filmmakers in Bollywood have already started films and web series for these streaming platforms. In Tamil, Gautham Vasudev Menon was among the first mainstream filmmakers to explore the possibilities of web series with ‘Queen’.
It is now being heard that a new 9-episode series is being planned to be made in Tamil. Some of the industry’s leading directors are stars are likely to be part of this project. Mani Ratnam will be producing this show for Amazon Prime.
Apparently, the series is based on the Navarasas, the 9 emotions. The nine emotions included in Navarasa are Shringara (love/beauty), Hasya (laughter), Karuna (sorrow), Raudra (anger), Veera (heroism/courage), Bhayanaka (terror/fear), Bibhatsya (disgust), Adbutha (surprise/wonder), and Shantha (peace or tranquility). These are the emotions that humans show according to the situations. These 9 emotions will be the show’s core theme.
It is learnt that an episode each will be directed by Mani Ratnam, Bejoy Nambiar, Karthick Naren, Gautham Menon and Arvind Swamy. Some other big names are also in talks. An official word is expected to be made soon.
