Nivin Pauly and Garggi Ananthan bag top honours at the New York Indian Film Festival
The Geetu Mohandas directorial ‘Moothon’ won big at the 20th New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF), 2020 Virtual Edition. The film was nominated in four categories and eventually won a total of three awards. Nivin Pauly won the Best Actor award and Sanjana Dipu, who essayed the role of Mulla in the film, won the Best Child Actor award. ‘Moothon’ was also chosen as the Best Film at the festival.
Garggi Ananthan won the Best Actress award for her performance in the film ‘Run Kalyani’. The Best Director award was bagged by Anchal Mishra for his 2019 film ‘Gamak Ghar’. Best Screenplay award went to ‘Knock Knock Knock’ written by Sudhanshu Saria.
‘Tailing Pond’, a 2019 documentary directed by Saurav Vishnu won Best Documentary award at the festival. Best Feature Documentary award went to ‘Son Rise’, directed by Vibha Bakshi. The award for Best Short (Narrative) went to ‘Arabian Nights’.
