Joju George’s look from Thuramukham revealed
Rajeev Ravi’s much-anticipated film ‘Thuramukham’ is gearing up for theatrical release on May 13 during the Eid holidays. The film has a stellar star cast lead by Nivin Pauly. Last day, the makers revealed the look of Joju George’s character. He essays a character named Maimu in the film. The makers had originally cast Biju Menon for the role but due to date issues, he got replaced by Joju. It is said to be a powerful character and Joju’s perfomance is eagerly awaited. Indrajith Sukumaran, Nimisha Sajayan, Darshana Rajendran, Arjun Ashokan, Poornima Indrajith, Sudev Nair and Manikandan R Achari will be seen in other important roles.
‘Thuramukham’ scripted by Gopan Chidambaram, is based on the historic protests against the inhuman ‘chappa’ system, that existed during the 1940s wherein copper coins were thrown at waiting workers in a primitive work guarantee scheme, which had resulted in police firing and killing of three workers in Mattancherry.
The film is set to have its world premiere at the prestigious International Film Festival of Rotterdam (IFFR). It is among the 15 films selected for the Big Screen Competiton section. The winner, chosen by an audience jury, will receive the VPRO Big Screen Award and will be presented during the festival in February. Sukumar Thekkeppat of Mini Studio is producing the film.
